Canyon View Falcons senior outside hitter Kiersten Attig said this season started a little shaky. It doesn't look that way now. The Falcons (16-9) are tied for first in Region 14, and they have swept several opponents, including 5A Springville and Timpview, according to MaxPreps.

"The more we've played games, our whole team is starting to click, and a lot of the girls are starting to get lots of confidence, which is great to see," Attig said. Right now, the Falcons are working on blocking and passing.

Her favorite win came against Morgan, 3-0, at a tournament on Oct. 10. "Everyone was clicking," she said. "We passed well, setting was great, and all of our hitters were able to put the ball away. And our serving was really tough against them."

Attig had praise for her teammates. Aliza Kirby "brings a lot of energy, which is what our team needs," she said. "She's one of those hitters that can really put away any ball." Setter Ivy Marble is "very calm and leveled," and "she can pick up almost anything on that right side." Libero Lexi Jensen is someone she trusts: "I've never seen her in her head once. She's one of those players that I can just rely on."

Attig said her sophomore season was shaky. "It was kind of scary to play with all the older girls," she said. Now she is a captain. "I am definitely more of a calmer leader," she said. "I set my example."

The Falcons host Cedar on Tuesday, Oct. 20. "This is one of my favorite games of the season," Attig said. "You get two very big student sections, so the whole gym is so loud." Delta comes to town Thursday, Oct. 22, in a match Attig said will likely decide the region title. Canyon View lost to Delta on Sept. 29. "We need to pass well because that gets the offense going," she said. "Our last game when we lost, we did not pass very well."

Attig has played all four years for head coach Lynette Whittaker. "She's very loud and energetic," Attig said. "She pushes us when we need to be pushed." Her advice for younger players: "Just give it your all. Put yourself out there and be very loud, and be very coachable."
