Jagger Fountaine Has Skyridge Unbeaten in One-Score Games

This article recaps The Rush's Friday, Oct. 23, 2026 interview with Jagger Fountaine. Watch the full interview.

Skyridge quarterback Jagger Fountaine has the Falcons at 8-1 and the No. 1 seed in the 6A playoffs, and nearly every win has come down to the final possession. Skyridge closed the regular season with a 21-15 win over American Fork on Oct. 14, according to MaxPreps.

"I thought we moved the ball really well," Fountaine said of the American Fork game. "We only put up 21 points. I wish we scored a little bit more. But at the end of the day, we did enough to get the job done." He credited his offensive line for protecting him and opening up the run game.

Built for close games

Skyridge has won by one score again and again, including 24-20 at Liberty, 28-20 at Lehi and 27-24 at Lone Peak. "I think we're six and zero in like one score games, which is super impressive and fun," Fountaine said. "We have a great confidence that we're going to win the game, no matter what the score is or what the situation is in the game."

His touchdown pass to Omarian Sanders against American Fork came off a run fake near the 10-yard line. "We called Omar on just a go route, and I had my eyes on a safety," Fountaine said. "I see the safety kind of be aggressive towards the run, and I know I have a one-on-one shot with Omar. He makes a great catch and ran a good route to win that one-on-one out there."

The supporting cast

Fountaine praised running back Beckham Bennett. "He's not the biggest dude out there. He works his tail off," he said. "On the field, he's just a warrior, and he runs hard. He catches the football. He can do anything out there. We even put him at receiver against American Fork."

Receiver Dax Rehrer is his go-to on third down. "He's super smart. He's a very reliable third down guy," Fountaine said. "I know he's gonna be in the right spot and do the right thing." He was also happy for defensive back Trey Harper, who had his first interception of the year against American Fork. "I was so happy for him because I know he hadn't been too happy with the way he was playing beforehand."

Waiting his turn

Fountaine got his first varsity drive as a freshman against Westlake, and he still remembers the numbers. "I was two for four for 16 yards on that drive," he said. "The clock ran out on me, which I was kind of sad about." He was a backup as a sophomore, then got his first meaningful varsity snaps last season when the starter was hurt against American Fork. "I actually threw a touchdown pass. It was kind of an ugly throw to Omar," he said. This season he has started all nine games.

The toughest defenders he faced

Asked who gave him the most trouble, Fountaine named two Lone Peak players and one from Corner Canyon. He said a Lone Peak safety picked him off and nearly had a second interception. Lone Peak's Kingston Stroshine stood out too. "There was one play on a third down against Lone Peak where he gets like 18 yards of depth on one of our receivers' routes. You don't see that often," Fountaine said. "That's why he's getting recruited big time."

Corner Canyon's Diesel Dart changed how Skyridge game-planned. "He's just a freak, super talented, super athletic," Fountaine said. "We can't have seven-yard high-lows. We gotta have like 15-yard high-lows when we're going against him."
