Easton Favero Has Logan Rolling in 3A North

Logan is 6-2 and 3-0 in 3A North, and senior quarterback Easton Favero is a big reason why. He has thrown for more than 2,400 yards this season with 24 touchdowns and just three interceptions, and he's closing in on 7,000 career passing yards.

Against Ben Lomond, the Scots showed a coverage Logan didn't expect, so the Grizzlies leaned on the run. Favero's favorite play came after a defensive fumble recovery around the 20, when he threw up an outside vert against man coverage for a touchdown.

He has plenty of targets. Jase Pingree is "like a race car" who runs through tackles despite his size. Royce Sargent will go get any one-on-one ball, and Treyson Covington is back from an injury that cost him last season. Up front, right tackle Roy Chavez leads a line that has allowed one sack all year, against Pine View. Left tackle Grayden Olsen moved over from tight end without complaining and is also one of the team's best defensive linemen.

Before homecoming, head coach Justin Hugie surprised the team with the classic Logan gold helmets. That meant a lot to Favero, whose dad coached the Grizzlies back in the gold-helmet era. Easton grew up watching those teams and still watches their highlights, and he credits his dad for everything from the weight room to reading defenses.

A three-year starter, Favero says the right reads and getting the ball out quickly are what he's proudest of. He also points to the bond in a senior class that has played together since they were little. Logan has Grantsville next and finishes the regular season at home against Morgan.
