South Summit senior Brody Larsen may have had the best game in the state last Friday. In a 49-7 win over ALA, he ran for 250 yards at 14.7 yards per carry, scored four rushing touchdowns, caught a touchdown pass and returned an interception for another score. That's six touchdowns in one night.

His favorite came after a slow start. On third down, South Summit's offensive coordinator told the players to pick a play and make sure they got the first down. Behind a pulling tackle and guard, Larsen made one defender miss, outran the rest and went about 70 yards for a touchdown.

On the pick six, he was at free safety when the opponent ran a crossing concept against man coverage. He jumped the route and took the ball away from the receiver.

South Summit hasn't always been a running team, but the run game is its identity this year, and Larsen says the offensive line has been the dominant force. He has more than 1,000 rushing yards, 1,225 all-purpose yards and about eight yards per carry, and he takes the most pride in his yards after contact. "I never go down on the first tackle," he said.

He credited quarterback Ian Mair for leading a young receiving group. Linebacker Barrett Schweitzer had an interception, and Nash Harline has about seven sacks.

Larsen was a slot receiver as a sophomore and part of a committee at running back as a junior before breaking out this year. South Summit hosts Judge Memorial on Friday and finishes at Providence Hall.
