Quarterback U Breakdown: Uintah’s Landon Woods Has a Little Tebow in Him

Uintah is having a turnaround season, highlighted by a 17-16 win at Wasatch, and senior quarterback Landon Woods is a big reason why. Judd Thompson of Quarterback U broke down Woods' film on The Rush, and he came away impressed.
"What stands out initially is he's a left-hander, which I love," said Thompson, a lefty himself. "Smooth thrower. He throws a catchable ball. He's got a good arm, but he's throwing the ball to be caught by his team." Thompson said Woods is maybe only the second lefty in about 70 quarterbacks Quarterback U has broken down.
Woods does it with his legs, too. Through seven games he's thrown for 1,345 yards and 12 touchdowns and run for 654 yards and nine more scores, according to MaxPreps.
Thompson picked out two throws. Against Timpanogos, Woods ran a play fake and dropped a fade into the back of the end zone without resetting his feet. "It's like that drill where you're throwing the ball in the trash can," Thompson said. At Murray, Uintah ran a post-wheel combination meant to hit the wheel, but the post came open, and Woods drove it in for a touchdown.
His comparison: Tim Tebow. "Underrated thrower, tough runner," Thompson said. "What Tebow did is he won games. Landon Woods is doing a similar thing."
Thompson also saw Olympus beat Brighton, and receiver Eli Rhees stood out. "All this guy does is catch touchdown passes," he said, pointing to a catch over his head between two defenders. Preston Ferran had a super-efficient game throwing to him.
Next up, Thompson heads to Ogden-Union. He and Andy also gave a shout-out to their cousin Jack Thompson, whose kickoff return sparked Ogden's win over Grantsville.
